DBT – Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Sometimes life feels like it’s spinning out of control and you don’t know which way is up, let alone how to stop it. Maybe relationships with friends, family, or partners feel like they’re always up and down. You can never do anything right and always feel like you are being pushed away. Sometimes your emotions feel out of control, and they are definitely in the drivers seat. You are on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride of the emotions and urges, rather than having some sense of control over what you feel or your actions. DBT Therapy can help you gain control and mastery over your emotions.

So many times, these behaviors are what have kept us safe and have served a huge function in day to day life, and they don’t feel like they’re helping so much anymore. Or they’re causing a lot of problems – that glass of wine you had at the end of a long day has turned into a bottle of wine, which leads to fights and not remembering things. The cute jeans you’d buy to treat yourself has turned into spending tens or hundreds of dollars a day on things you don’t even need (damn you Amazon 2 day delivery!!!) and money is a huge issue. Your world doesn’t feel safe or predictable, and you don’t know how you’re going to feel minute to minute, let alone hour to hour.
